The Nigeria Youth Diaspora Coalition (North America) sternly rejects the recent ban of Twitter in Nigeria, following a policy breach of the social media platform by the government of Nigeria.
Twitter serves as a means of information dissemination and a lot of companies and organizations use twitter to publicize their brands, hence this shutdown has greatly shut down their engagements.
The twitter ban also raises grave concern of a clamp down on the freedom of expression which is duly protected by the Constitution of Nigeria and the United Nations Charter.
We believe that the fundamental right to express one’s self is a right expected in any civilized and democratic institution.
